What news organization do you work for?
Journal & Courier (Lafayette, IN)
Which of these best describes your day job?
Editor
About Me:
* I have more than 17 years of daily newsroom experience at papers large and small, mostly concentrated in the northeastern U.S. I have been involved with a twice-weekly paper going daily, the conversion to a new press (twice) and an afternoon paper converting to a.m. (also twice).

* Currently, I am the managing editor of the Journal & Courier, a 40,000 daily newspaper in Lafayette, Ind. I manage a newsroom of 48 people, and am responsible for daily, short-term and long-term projects for both print and online.

* I also head up a building-wide innovation team that is charged with creating or revamping digital and print products. So far we have launched a Moms Web site, overhauled our TMC and created a twice-yearly restaurant dining guide.

* In 2006, I was the lead architect in the Journal & Courier's successful transition to a Berliner-style newspaper, the first of its kind for a daily in North America.

* Previous roles have included news editor, copy editor, life editor, reporter.

Thanks. We're at the very beginning of our disruptive innovation after recently finishing the American Press Institute's Newspaper Next seminar. I'm just hpping to connect with people who are doing it/have done it. We can learn from each other, I'm hoping.

Good to hear from you again.

I found this site because I got a resume from Dionne Waugh, who mentioned that she had worked for you. I googled her and wound up at WiredJournalists.

So, I was just thinking. You should update your blog. (Not the East/West one, the other one.) If you want a topic: post about all the election coverage and how we're capitalizing on new media to make it come alive. Live-blogging, twitter, UStream video, photo galleries, crowd-sourcing, breaking news, etc. I'd write it, but you're more view from the top. I've commented on my view from the bottom a little on my own blog.

Hey Henry, funny you should mention that. I spent 80 minutes soweling today, but it was the first time we had a serious snowfall all winter, so I'm not really complaining! :-) Hope all is well with you
