My job: Online Community Manager for group of five papers. User-generated content guru for print and online. All-around hawker and PR spreader of company Web sites. AND... I'm on a "new ventures" group that comes up with new "out-of-the-box" ideas for revenue.
History: Have spent about 9 years at same paper, in almost every position the newsroom offers.
Life skills: roller derby girl, fiction writer, reader, maker of killer mix CDs, finder of Jeep trails, stalker of trout, lizard lover.
I haven't yet explored Digg or any other news aggregate sites, but I'll be on it this afternoon.
As far as Facebook goes, how are you going about marketing that once the page debuts? My biggest hurdle thus far has been building a solid base of content (we haven't published the page yet) but I'm wondering how best to get people to become "fans" of the page.
I saw one of your recent comments and thought I'd offer my services.
I'm a former Newsday reporter who started his own online media company. Buildnclick.com is one of my offerings. We specialize in Internet solutions for small businesses. And that includes SEO. As a publisher myself I understand your needs better than most. If I can help, let me know.
The weird thing is it doesn't typically look like that; I didn't upload it that way. But I figure it's the closest to looking like George Clooney that I'll ever come to.
Hi Amy,
Welcome to WiredJournalists. I'm thrilled to see you here. I've had some serious worries about Swift after I met someone from your company late last year. Maybe I'll tell you the story some day.
At any rate, I hope you find what you need here. It's a great resource. Let me know if I can be of help.
