Wired Journalists

Get wired to win.

I've come across a brilliant tool for live reporting on your blog. You can upload videos and photos but this tool's absolute greatest feature is that it allows you to live blog your written texts. See it in action by using the link on my forum page.

Fascinating. I cannot WAIT to try it. That could really add a fascinating layer to speaker events... which are otherwise pretty boring for readers.

You're absolutely right. I tried it again today and just did my regular blogging stuff. It felt a bit stupid, but I am going to just do it and keep the box open the whole day so visitors will get the idea that something exciting is going on. (Which obviously is ALWAYS the case.) Now I am scouring live events on Facebook to see if they ought to be covered in tomorrow's post. Insanity.

I second the praise for CoverItLive. We just used it for a live-blog to follow on the heels of our magazine cover story about the influence of US News rankings, http://www.abajournal.com/news/live_interview_with_bob_morse/.

It was incredibly easy to use. And with just two of us, we were able to filter through more than 160 questions in less than an hour while our guest furiously answered every question we posted. All the while, I was able to post poll questions that rotated throughout the live-blog period. When the event was archived, the poll questions were included, with final results. Very cool. I will definitely look for opportunities to use it again.

We will be using CIL to live blog the NASCAR Race at Talladega in a week and a half. I'll post a link once we get it up and running. It looks like pretty amazing stuff. I'm not sure how it will go over with the NASCAR crowd, but we will see.

This is a great discussion. Very helpful as we prep to cover (what we hope will be) a huge trial. How did the NASCAR live blog go?

Have any of you tried setting up a newsroom Twitter account? You can then RSS feed any of the posts to any blogs you already have going or to Facebook, etc., not to mention promoting the crap out of it so other Twitter users start following you.
