I've tried it out, and it's an interesting development. It might be another reason for newspapers to wonder why they run AP news at all. Or more likely, to better understand how tech-savvy or not their readers are. Maybe it's a matter of the paper running AP news for people whose phone just makes phone calls.

It was interesting how easy the news videos were to use. The idea of watching TV on a cell phone used to mean a complicated set-up, low-quality picture and an added subscription fee to the carrier. This seems to do away with all of that, depending on how fresh AP can make it.

Also, you can go to Apple's site for iPhone apps at http://www.apple.com/webapps ... There's one called NewsCast where you can get the CBS Evening News, CNN headlines, Sky News and other news videos. i wonder which newscasters will make the most of this when something huge happens, the kind of thing that people rush to turn on the TV set to follow. Or whether the videos will be less fresh than you get elsewhere.
