I hate Mondays.
I am not a fan of waking up early for work, fighting rush-hour traffic and being the first one in the news room. But I do it because someone needs to be there. Someone needs report what is happening in town while most people sleep.
Someone has to generate content for the Web site.
Ah yes, the Web. Something I do not know much about, aside from how to post stories and photos.
So imagine my surprise when I found out I won GateHouse Media's Above and Beyond Award for December for my mix-up of reporters' responsibilities in the news room.
I'm honored to be recognized for an idea that has generated a lot of benefits for those working in The Times-Reporter's newsroom.
We're beating our competitors at getting stories, and, more importantly, we're getting information to the reader as soon as possible - even if it is only one or two graphs.
We're a small paper that has three full-time reporters. If you are having problems making that initial jump to the Web, check out what I did at
GateHouse Newsroom.
