Kenny is the student media adviser and director of the digital video center at Samford University where he works with students developing cross-platform journalism skills.

Kenny is also pursuing a doctorate in communication and information sciences from the University of Alabama.

With journalism experience in print, broadcast and online Kenny has received Associated Press awards in several media markets. He's also contributed to newsrooms collectively earning StateNets News and Pacemaker awards.

He holds a bachelor's degree from Auburn University and a master's degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is married to Lauren Reichart Smith, a doctoral candidate at the University of Alabama.
