There comes a time when you have learned all you are going to learn from hacking away all by yourself. This year the training budget for the newsroom went to nothing, so the regular channels were well, blocked.
I remembered that one of our corporate benefits is tuition re reimbursement -- not from the newsroom budget. Turns out if I can find a for-credit class, the company will reimburse up to $1,000. So I took an extension course at UCLA for $999. In one month I learned tons of new tricks that have sped up editing tremendously. Now I am studying for the Apple Certification for Advanced Final Cut Pro Editing.
Anybody else have a creative way to get some help?
